The small pouch limits the amount of food you can eat, while a small opening created by the band lets food pass through your stomach and small intestine. Your surgeon can adjust the size of the opening and remove the lap band.

Gastric sleeve

Gastric sleeve surgery is performed by removing about 80% of your stomach, which significantly reduces the amount of food you can eat. This surgery also changes hormones that help regulate hunger, feeling full, and blood sugar.
